A large chunk of Indian cinemas come from regional studios. There are over 14 languages in which films are made besides Hindi movies from the Bollywood. Bengali cerebral movies, made by Satyajit Ray, Mrinal Sen, Ritwik Ghatak, Buddhadeb Dasgupta, Gautam Ghosh , Aparna Sen and others are a gala feast for film buffs. The South Indian films together are more in numbers than Hindi films made in the Bollywood. Of the four south Indian languages – Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada, Malayalam movies have some potentially good content. Adoor Gopalkrisnan is a renowned Malayalam film director. Oriya cinemas are also good, some have won national awards. Bhojpuri, Punjabi, Rajasthani and other language films are also listed.
